Read the text and answer the question. Lights out: Why all-night parties are in decline around the world Tighter regulations, higher costs, and the "most sober" generation hit the nightlife industry hard. Nightclubs around the world are closing their doors earlier than ever before, and some of the world's biggest party hotspots are hosting fewer all-night parties. Club owners and party organizers face tighter regulations and higher costs. But the real culprit is simply that this generation of young people is less interested in club culture than previous generations were. The Financial Times recently updated an analysis of late-night dance parties. The newspaper found that the number of nightclubs open past 3 a.m. has decreased in 12 out of 15 global cities it analyzed. Nightclubs are also facing competition from day clubs. Young people today are just not into clubbing like previous generations were. The idea of drinking a lot, dropping a lot of money on drinks and staying out well past sunrise doesn't appeal to the newer generation of young people. One commentator called Gen Z the "most sober" generation yet. Younger people are more educated about sleep. More young people say they get eight to nine hours of sleep per night. Nightclubs won't completely die out any time soon. But the industry needs to adapt, or else it will continue to shrink. Based on the text, it is correct to say:
  1. A)The nightlife in global cities is as strong as it has ever been with the Gen Z public.
  2. B)The research of the Financial Times has revealed that the number of nightclubs operating after 1 a.m. in global cities has reduced from 15 to 12.
  3. C)Younger generations prefer going to day clubs so they can get drunk, and still go home early and get from 8 to 9 hours of sleep.
  4. D)The nightclub industry must change their club culture and adapt to the new generation's lifestyle to avoid becoming smaller and smaller.
  5. E)Older generations were into being sober and dropped less money on drinks in nightclubs than the Gen Z.

Read the text and answer the question. A clean, well-lighted place Clutter, for many of us, is a simple annoyance; but to others, it is a highly personal and sensitive topic. For some, parting with even the smallest scrap of paper can cause emotional turmoil. If there is a deeper fear of loss, scarcity, or if the clutter is used as self-protection from relationships, it may be a sign of a serious (but treatable) mental disorder known as hoarding. But for those who are simply disorganized, yet feeling stressed by it, the following benefits of cleaning up may prove illuminating — because we all, as Hemingway said, long for "a clean, well-lighted place". What are the benefits we can expect to receive upon cleaning up the mess? - You report not spending time looking for things. - Save money by not buying items you already have. - Reduce stress related to lost items or lost information. - Manage activities and deadlines more efficiently. - Have more time to do things you really want to do. - Have a more attractive and inviting home. Based on the information presented in the text, clutter may:
  1. A)make people feel a variety of emotions, like stress, anxiety, annoyance and fear.
  2. B)lead to mental disorders that have no cure.
  3. C)transform homes into attractive environments.
  4. D)lower stress levels because people have all their things around them.
  5. E)help people meet their deadlines and do the things they enjoy.

The following text is reference to questions 89 and 90. Surgery in space: Tiny remotely operated robot completes first simulated procedure at the space station By Taylor Nicioli and Kristin Fisher, CNN February 13, 2024 A tiny surgical robot in residence at the International Space Station completed its first surgery demo in zero gravity on Saturday. The robot, known as spaceMIRA – which stands for Miniaturized In Vivo Robotic Assistant – performed several operations on the surface of the sitting laboratory while remotely operated by multiple-area surgeons from approximately 250 miles (400 kilometers) below in Lincoln, Nebraska. The milestone is a step forward in developing technology that could have implications not just for successful long-term human space travel, where surgical emergencies could happen, but also for establishing access to medical care in remote areas on Earth, such as in rural areas or military battlefields. The US goal of pushing exploration deeper into space includes the possibility of journeys that could take years – a round-trip to Mars, for example, could take about two years to complete, according to NASA. The demonstration on Saturday called for the remote surgeon to control the robots' hands to provide tension to the simulated tissue – made of rubber bands – and use the other hand to dissect the elastic tissue with scissors. A total of six surgeons performed remote tests with the robot, and each demonstration – dissecting the correct piece of tissue under pressure, a common surgical task, was considered successful. One of the challenges when attempting to control a robot in space from Earth is latency, or the delay between the time the command is sent and the time the robot receives it. The delay was about 0.85 of a second, said Dr. Michael Jobst, a colorectal surgeon who was part of the demonstration with spaceMIRA on Saturday. Available in: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/02/13/world/mira-robot-first-surgery-in-space-scn/index.html. Adapted. 89 - Based on the information presented in the text, which is the main characteristic of the robot spaceMIRA?
  1. A)It is a remotely controlled robot that has completed its first surgery on board the International Space Station.
  2. B)It is an oversized robotic assistant that performed its first simulated operation on human tissue in space.
  3. C)It is remotely controlled by a team of colorectal surgeons that were in the International Space Station.
  4. D)It has rubber bands that allow more precision and fewer seconds of delay in performing the command given.
  5. E)It is part of a NASA project that will take about two years to make a trip around Mars.

The surprising history of India's vibrant sari tradition South Asian women have draped themselves in colorful silks and cottons for eons. The ways they're made and worn are dazzling and diverse. The word "sari" means "strip of cloth" in Sanskrit. But for the Indian women – and a few men – who have been wrapping themselves in silk, cotton, or linen for millennia, these swaths of fabric are more than just simple garments. They're symbols of national pride, ambassadors for traditional (and cutting-edge) design and craftsmanship, and a prime example of the rich differences in India's 29 states. "The sari both as symbol and reality has filled the imagination of the subcontinent, with its appeal and its ability to conceal and reveal the personality of the person wearing it," says Delhi-based textile historian Rta Kapur Chishti, author of Saris of India: Tradition and Beyond and co-founder of Taanbaan, a fabric company devoted to reviving and preserving traditional Indian spinning and weaving methods. The first mention of saris (alternately spelled sarees) is in the Rig Veda, a Hindu book of hymns dating to 3,000 B.C.; draped garments show up on Indian sculptures from the first through sixth centuries, too. What Delhi-based textile historian Rta Kapur Chishti calls the "magical unstitched garment" is ideally suited to India's blazingly hot climate and the modest-dress customs of both Hindu and Muslim communities. Saris also remain traditional for women in other South Asian countries including Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal. (Available in: https://www.nationalgeographic.com/travel/photography/the-story-of-the-sari-in-india/.) Sari, which in Sanskrit means "strip of cloth", represents more than a piece of clothing in India. In relation to the different meaning(s) attributed to the sari, consider the following affirmatives: 1. It stands for both up-to-date and conventional patterns. 2. People wear it in different ways. 3. Both men and women can wear it. 4. People cannot avoid an arrogant attitude when they put it on. Mark the affirmative(s) that is/are present in the text.
  1. A)4 only.
  2. B)1 and 3 only.
  3. C)2 and 4 only.
  4. D)1, 2 and 3 only.
  5. E)1, 2, 3 and 4.
